Privacy Policy.
You trust Stateside with your packages — and with some personal information along the way. Here’s what I collect, why I need it, who may receive it and the choices you have.
I need enough information to get your stuff from here to there.
Stateside collects information needed to manage memberships, identify packages, arrange international shipments, process payments, answer questions and keep the service running safely. I don’t sell your personal information.

How and why your information is used
Providing the service
Stateside uses membership, contact, package, shipping and transaction information to provide the service you purchase — including managing your membership, identifying packages, storing and consolidating orders, arranging shipments, processing Trader Joe's requests and handling support.
For UK and EEA customers, this processing is generally necessary to perform the contract with you or to take steps you request before entering into a contract.
Payments and financial records
Information may be used to prepare invoices, confirm payment, maintain transaction records and meet tax, accounting, customs or other legal obligations.
The lawful basis may include performance of a contract and compliance with applicable legal obligations.
Package and customs processing
Purchase values, receipts, product information, addresses and other shipment details may be used to prepare accurate international shipping and customs documentation.
Security, fraud prevention and service protection
Stateside may use account, transaction, package and technical information when reasonably necessary to prevent misuse, investigate suspicious activity, protect customers and packages, enforce Stateside's Terms or establish and defend legal claims.
Where applicable, this processing is based on Stateside's legitimate interests in safely operating and protecting the service, customers and business.
Customer support
Contact information and communications are used to respond to questions, resolve package issues and provide member support.
Marketing
If you choose to subscribe to Stateside marketing emails, your email address and preferences may be used to send news, product finds, Trader Joe's updates and other Stateside content.
Where consent is the lawful basis, you may withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in the message or contacting Stateside.
Payment information
Payments are processed through third-party payment services connected to Stateside's website.
Those providers may collect payment-card, billing and transaction information needed to process your purchase. Stateside generally receives transaction information such as the amount paid, payment status and order details rather than your complete payment-card credentials.
Payment providers process information according to their own privacy and security practices as well as their agreements with Stateside.
Cookies, analytics & similar technology
Stateside's website is built on Squarespace. Squarespace uses cookies and similar technologies for purposes that can include authentication, security, website functionality, preferences and analytics.
Depending on the website settings and your consent choices, analytics information may include information about your browser, network and device, IP address, pages visited, referring pages, clicks, searches and timestamps.
Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential cookies, Stateside intends to use those technologies only in accordance with the choices provided through the site's cookie-consent controls.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking necessary cookies may affect website or Member Portal functionality.
Do Not Track disclosures
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is not one universally implemented browser standard for all such signals and services, the site may not respond to traditional Do Not Track signals in every circumstance.
Cookie and privacy choices offered directly through the website should be used to manage optional tracking where available. Stateside will honor legally required privacy preference signals where applicable.
Third-party online activity
Squarespace and any third-party tools or integrations enabled on the site may receive technical or usage information when you use their features. Those providers may use cookies or similar technologies subject to their own privacy practices and the website's consent settings.
International data transfers
Stateside Parcel Co. operates from California in the United States. If you live in the UK, Ireland or another country, providing information to Stateside therefore means that some personal information may be processed in the United States.
Stateside also uses service providers that may process information in the United States or other countries.
Where data-protection law requires safeguards for international transfers to separate service providers, appropriate transfer mechanisms are used or relied upon where applicable.
Squarespace states that it uses mechanisms including the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and applicable Data Privacy Framework certifications for relevant international transfers.
You may contact Stateside if you would like more information about the safeguards applicable to a particular transfer.
How long personal information is kept
Stateside keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service and meeting legal, accounting, tax, customs, security and dispute-resolution obligations.
Retention depends on the type of information and why it was collected. For example:
- Membership and account information may be retained while your membership is active and for a reasonable period afterward where needed for records, support or disputes.
- Purchase, invoice, payment and shipping records may be kept for periods required by tax, accounting, customs or other applicable laws.
- Package information may be retained as needed to complete, document or troubleshoot shipments.
- Customer-support communications may be retained as reasonably necessary to resolve requests and maintain business records.
- Marketing information may be retained until you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw consent, subject to limited records necessary to respect your opt-out.
- Website analytics information is retained according to the settings and retention practices of the applicable analytics provider.
Information may be deleted, anonymized or securely retained for a longer period where required by law or reasonably necessary for a legal claim.
Information security
Stateside takes reasonable administrative, technical and organizational steps designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
These measures can include limiting access to business records, using account-security controls and relying on reputable service providers for website hosting, payment processing, storage and shipping operations.
No online service, storage system or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the circumstances of the processing, you may have rights relating to your personal information.
For UK and EEA customers, these may include the right to:

These rights aren't absolute in every circumstance. Stateside may need to retain or continue processing some information where permitted or required by law.
How to access, correct or delete your information
To ask about your personal information or request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or another applicable privacy right, contact Stateside using the contact information in this policy or the website's Contact page.
Please provide enough information to identify your account and understand your request. Stateside may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity before releasing or changing personal information.
Stateside will respond within the period required by the applicable privacy law.

California consumers may contact Stateside using the process above to ask to review or correct personal information maintained by Stateside where applicable.
Stateside does not sell personal information for money.
If additional California consumer privacy rights apply to Stateside's processing now or in the future, Stateside will provide and honor those rights as required by applicable law.
Automated decision-making
Stateside does not currently use solely automated decision-making or profiling to make decisions about members that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Children's privacy
Stateside's membership and forwarding services are intended for adults and aren't directed to children.
If Stateside learns that personal information was collected from a child in circumstances where it should not have been collected, reasonable steps will be taken to delete or otherwise address that information.
Questions & complaints
If you have a concern about how Stateside handles your personal information, please contact Stateside first so I have the opportunity to look into it.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
- United Kingdom: Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
- Ireland: Data Protection Commission (DPC)
UK & EEA representatives
Where applicable data-protection law requires Stateside Parcel Co. to appoint a representative in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, the representative's details will be provided below and kept current.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Stateside may update this Privacy Policy when the service, technology, vendors or legal requirements change.
The effective date at the top of the page will be updated when a new version takes effect. Where a change is material, Stateside may also provide additional notice through the website, Member Portal, email or another appropriate method.
